Before use

Read the manufacturer's instructions before using or cleaning a product. Check its material, water-resistance rating, charging method, lubricant guidance, and any parts that should not be submerged. A splash-resistant product may tolerate surface cleaning but still be damaged by soaking. If the instructions are missing or unclear, contact the manufacturer before use.

Wash your hands, then clean the product using the method approved by its manufacturer. Inspect the entire surface, including seams, attachments, controls, cords, battery covers, and charging ports. Do not use a product with cracks, sharp edges, swelling, discoloration, exposed wiring, a loose battery compartment, or a damaged seal. Replace a porous or soft product if its surface becomes sticky, torn, or difficult to clean.

Confirm that the lubricant is compatible with both the product material and any barrier you plan to use. Water-based lubricant is compatible with many toys, but the product and lubricant labels should make the final decision. For anal use, choose a product designed for that purpose with a flared base or another retrieval feature that remains outside the body.

During use

Use enough compatible lubricant to reduce friction and reapply it when needed. Begin with the lowest comfortable intensity, keep movements controlled, and never force a product. Cords, controllers, and charging connections should remain away from water unless the manufacturer states that the complete product is waterproof and safe for that setting.

Stop using the product if it causes pain, numbness, bleeding, burning, irritation, or unexpected discomfort. Switch off any device that becomes unusually hot, changes speed without input, makes a new sound, or develops an odor. Do not continue using a damaged or malfunctioning product.

A shared product can carry body fluids between people or body areas. Use a new condom or other suitable barrier for each person and change it before moving the product to another body area. A product used anally should not touch the vagina or mouth until it has been cleaned as directed or covered with a new barrier.

After use and cleaning

Switch the product off and disconnect it from power before cleaning. Remove detachable parts only as directed. Clean the product soon after use with warm water and mild soap, or with a compatible toy cleaner, when the manufacturer permits that method. A cleaner labeled antibacterial does not make every product sterile. Do not boil, bleach, place in a dishwasher, or soak a product unless its care instructions allow it.

Pay attention to textured areas and seams where residue can remain, without allowing liquid into motors, charging ports, or battery compartments. Follow the cleaner's label for application, contact time, rinsing, and drying. Combining cleaning products can damage the surface or leave residue, so use one approved method at a time.

Rinse when the product or cleaner instructions require it, then let every surface and detachable part dry before reassembly. Inspect the product again after cleaning. Persistent odor, trapped moisture, surface changes, corrosion, or damage are reasons to stop using it and consult the manufacturer about replacement.

Storage between uses

Store each clean, dry product in its own lint-free pouch or case in a cool place away from direct sunlight, excess heat, and humidity. Separate products made from different soft materials unless the manufacturer confirms they can touch during storage. Do not seal a damp product in a bag or closed container.

Keep products away from children and pets. Protect buttons and delicate attachments from pressure, and avoid winding charging cables tightly around a device. Remove disposable batteries before long-term storage when the instructions recommend it. Rechargeable products should be charged and stored with the supplied or manufacturer-approved equipment.

Review stored products before using them again, especially after a long gap. Manufacturer instructions take priority over general guidance because materials, motors, coatings, and seals require different care. Seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional if pain, bleeding, irritation, or other symptoms persist after use.

Pregnancy, STI, and medical limits

Sex toys and lubricants are not contraceptives and do not prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections unless the specific product is expressly labeled for that purpose. Follow the package instructions for condoms, barriers, and contraceptive products, and remember that no method provides absolute protection.
